The Circular Economy: More Than a Buzzword?

Many of us want to contribute towards a greener society: we want to recycle more, use less plastic and toss less food into our bins. This push towards sustainability is increasingly linked to the concept of circular economy, a vision of a world in which we efficiently use, reuse and regenerate materials instead of throwing them away. But what exactly does circular economy really mean?

Join Prof. Khaled Soufani of the Circular Economy Centre at Cambridge Judge Business School as he delves into the concept of circular economy, what it means for you, and what the university is doing to turn it into reality.

The lecture will be followed by an exhibition featuring interactive demos and information on research being conducted at Cambridge University to combat plastic waste and encourage circularity and sustainability.

Old Mobile Phones collection for recycling

Humberside residents can safely dispose of their old mobile phones and tablets at no charge at 47, Paragon Street, Hull. The event has been organised with the help of a local mobile phones recycling company called Rapid Phone buyer. All mobile phone and other similar devices contain batteries and are classed as hazardous and should be dealt with in accordance with the law and should not be disposed of with the general waste.

According to a research by Money supermarket a typical mobile phone handset lasts less than two years in todays market and as these devices have been used in abundance since early 2000s, there are millions of devices still at people’s homes which need recycling. The main aim of this event is to not only create awareness among the residents of Humberside in regards to importance of recycling devices with lithium batteries but also to collect devices and recycle them for free.
